What brand of hair straighteners do you consider the best?

I am searching for a new hair straightener.

I am considering getting a CHI, but I've heard that they break very fast.

Sedu seems very good, but I don't know much about.

And a lot of people are saying that the GHD is very good.

Which one of these would you say is the best?

Is there one better than any of these.

Thank you. What brand of hair straighteners do you consider the best?
I have thick, coarse asian hair. I've tried CHI (not available with tourmaline), and FHI, but my ultimate favorite is the Sedu Original Model 1 1/2'; (not the new Revolution model). It costs $115 on Folica.com with free shipping and a 2 year warranty. There is a 1'; model that runs for $108. Folica.com is the ONLY online retailers of Sedu products. They are a very reliable company and I've made multiple purchases from them with no problems.

The Sedu flat irons have ceramic/tourmaline plates, which emit loads of negative ions and infrared heat. This type of heat is less damaging than that of regular ceramic plates. Plus, Sedu flat irons have super shiny scratch-resistant plates that glide through your hair like butter - no kidding! I looove mine so much and will never stray from it! :o)

Oh, one more thing! Sedu changed all their flat irons so that they now come with strong, thick, and straight cords that don't swivel and cause shorts. So good! The CHI and GHD flat irons come with swivel cords, which are more likely to short and stop working. Plus, both the CHI and GHD do not have temperature control. In other words, whatever temperature they are set at is what you're stuck with. This is very bad because the set temperature may not be hot enough for your hair type or worse yet, it may be way too hot.

If you'd like to see before and after pics of my hair using my Sedu 1 1/2'; flat iron as well as read my Folica.com review, please go here:

I am reviewer ';leeyah87'; and am at the very top. Let me know if you have any more questions! What brand of hair straighteners do you consider the best?
To find the best hair straightner for you, you have to consider these factors:

1. Price - It is obvious that like any other purchase money plays a vital part. You must remember that purchasing a hair straightener is a one time investment which will improve your life style for years. Therefore, you shouldn鈥檛 buy the cheap hair straighteners that cost less than $100. How ever, you should not invest more that $160 in a hair straightener. You can buy excellent hair straighteners like the Sedu hair straightener in an average price of $130.

2. Weight The lighter the better. Remember, there is a good chance that you will use the hair straightener daily. You should buy a hair straightener with an ergonomic design and a light weight. For example, the Sedu hair straightener weights as low as 1 lbs.

3. Best fit Most hair straighteners fit all hair type. However, You should adjust the width of the ceramic plates to your hairlength. For 95% of hair lengths, It is advisable to get a width of 1.5';. For a very long hair, you should get wider plates. The Sedu hair straightener comes with ceramic plate鈥檚 width of 1'; and 1.5';.

4. Plate鈥檚 types A hair straightener includes two plates. Only ceramic plates assure no heat damage if use properly.

5. Heating time You should not compromise on less than a quick heat of the hair straightener. How ever, make sure you can adjust the temperature or at least have more than 3 temperature levels.

An objective study of all major hair straighteners regarding the above parameters showed that in 95% of cases the Sedu hair straightener is the best practice.

911 Corp. executed an independent research to find the best hair straightening methods. The results were clear. Sedu hair straightener is the most efficient hair straightener
Get the Sedu. I've tried CHI, GHD, Sedu, %26amp; Solia. Sedu is DEFINITELY the best. And my stylist agrees:)

Don't even consider getting a CHI. Those who say ';CHI is the best'; haven't used a Sedu. And CHIs are hit-or-miss as far as reliability goes. Many do break within the first year, and worse, they tend to burn the hair. And for that kind of money, you want a brand you can trust.

Sedus work on ALL hair types, as do Solia irons (and Solia irons are a little less expensive than most professional irons, which is wonderful). And while GHD work pretty well, they don't work on all hair types and sometimes break (kind of like CHIs).

Well, I hope this helps!

I got my Solia a few years back, it worked great for my hair (and my sister's hair too). Last August my sister went to a college in california, she took the Solia with her. Initially I wanted another Solia, but Jonna (my hair stylist) convinced me to get a Sedu. I did. Like Jonna said, Sedu is the best.
i got a 2-inch $20 Conair from walmart and it works really well. it even worked on my friend, and her hair is really wavy and stubborn.
Well i cant be of much help as iv only ever used ghds but i would definitly reccommmend these straightners, they cant get much better x
I personally prefer GHD's although they are quite expensive. I'm sure if you look around you can find just as good of a make ones for a lot cheaper.

xx
I personaly prefer a CHI I've had mine for about 3 years and it still works as good as it did when I first bought it.
CHI. End of story!
definatly CHI is the best....

no doubt about that.
Helen of Troy or Bed Head
As a stylist, I have used a lot of flat irons/hair straighteners, including Sedu, Hai, Infrashine, Chi, Paul Mitchell, Solia, Big Sexy, Andis, Babyliss Ghd, T3, Kenta etc. You should get a Professional hair straightener, they style much better and faster, and most importantly, they protect your hair.

In terms of performance:

The best ones are: Sedu, Kenta, Solia, Infrashine, Ghd. These are top of the line professional brands

Above average: Chi, Hai, Paul Mitchell,

Average: T3, Big Sexy, Andis, Babyliss

Below Average: Conair, Vidal Sassoon, Revlon, Bed Head etc. These are cheap consumer brands that you will find in drugstore. If you care about your hair, do NOT buy them.

=== Flat Iron Hair Straighteners FAQ ======

Q: What size should I choose?

A: For most people, 1';, 1-1/4'; or 1.5'; are all good choices. If you have very thick, coarse, long or ethic hair, bigger size (1.5'; or 2';) will save you some time. If you have thin, fine hair, get a smaller one (1'; or 3/4';).

Q: What temperature should I should on my hair?

A: Based on my expereince, 380F is the average temperature to use. If you hair is thick and coarse, bump it up a bit, if you hair is fine or overprocessed, start it at somewhere 300F, and try it. If the setting does not work well for you, increase a bit until you get a setting that works well for you but does not burn your hair. Trial and error.
