I dropped my flat iron/hair straightener in the toilet for a few seconds. Is it okay to still use?

After that, I quickly rinsed it off with soap and water and hand dried the outside. I've been letting it dry out in the open for a couple of days. When I plugged it in today, it sizzled a little so I quickly unplugged it. Is it ruined forever? Or should I just let it dry out more? I really don't want to have to buy another one because I don't have the money for it right now. How long should I let it dry out for?I dropped my flat iron/hair straightener in the toilet for a few seconds. Is it okay to still use?
NO

youll get electricuted!! and its probably wrecked.. and why would you want to put toilet water on your hair??I dropped my flat iron/hair straightener in the toilet for a few seconds. Is it okay to still use?
to be safe get a new one
That's just nasty. Sorry. Throw it away.
Water drys give it a few more days. But to be safe get a new one so ya dont get zapped while your straighting your hair. LOL mental picture.
no way sister!!!! THATS GROSS!
ew why would u want to use it again anyway? get a new one, even if its a temporary cheap one for about $20.
nope...get a new one
um...i don't think youd still want to use it after it fell in the toilet...besides...you don't want any risk either. Get a new one.
Make sure it's dry and that is you don't use it for a few days to make sure . Then I think you shouldn't have a problem .If it was only in the water for a few seconds it should be OK .
Let it dry for about 48 hours and then see what happen's
I wouldnt...could be waterlogged.
No, once it has been in water (even for a few seconds) it is virtually unsafe to continue to use. Buy a new one.

Dont waste your money on a cheap hair straiten cuz it will seriously damage your hair over time. It would definitely be worth it to save your money and invest in a good quality one.
Don't buy a cheap straightener. It's money wasted. You can get a good, top of the line straightener on e-bay that will last a long time.

Is the chi or solia hair straightener better?

i think im getting the solia just to check it out. but which one is better? Is the chi or solia hair straightener better?
CHI is supposed to be one of the top ones on the market! I have been using a CHI for years and I won't use anything else because nothing has worked better. I have super tight curls and it straightens then perfectly and leaves my hair feeling soft also. I would suggest the CHI and nothing other than the CHI! Love it and can't live without it!Is the chi or solia hair straightener better?
i like chi =]
I bought an FHI hair straightener and I love it! I have really thick, wavy long hair and it is perfect for my hair type. I bought it at Beauty Brands for $110 and saved 15% when I became a VIP member with them.
I used the chi before and i liked it!

Layer your hair first I guess.. Then go for Smoothing/Bio... It'll last for a couple of months, but it makes your hair look naturally straight.

To buy a expensive hair straightener, or not to?

I bought a $10 dollar straightener from Walmart made by ';Style Series';, It did work; for 5 minutes. So I purchased a $25 dollar one and found it does work alot better; just not picture perfect, and I really don't know if it was the straightener or the new hair products I bought to go with it... Does it actually make a difference? Should I buy the expensive Chi one I've had my eye on? Please help! (my hair is about 2/3 of an inch past my shoulders; major flip problems!!) %26lt;3To buy a expensive hair straightener, or not to?
Trust me they are worth the money. The cheaper ';ceramic ionic) drug store brands are coated with ceramic instead of solid ceramic plates. The professional brands ususally atleast $80 have SOLID ceramic. In addition to that you KNOW its going to be durable b/c its made specifically for salon use. If it lasts for a stylist that usese it several times a day over the course of years it should work for someone who is going to use it a couple of days out of the week over a course of years.

But do NOT buy a chi it has bad reviews about its durability. If you're gonna spend $100+ on a flat iron you want it to last. Check into a solia or sedu on http://www.folica.com. If you don't believe me about the CHI read the reviews for yourself. To buy a expensive hair straightener, or not to?
so buy the expensive one...i have a $200.00 one that is made by hairart , it's ceramic with tourmaline, and it goes up to 410 degrees...it so works!! I have had the cheap ones and it does not compare...trust me....
I'm not african american although I am a woman of color, half polynesian, but my hair is naturally very curly so I used to use the hair relaxers made for african americans. Those work very well in straightening hair, maybe you can give one of those a try..they usually have them in any store in the hair care products aisle and they didn't seem to cost so much either.

It does tend to last for a couple of months though so if you're someone who is always changing your hair style and want to not have it straight sometimes this is not a good choice to go with.
Yeah get the chi. I got one on overstock.com for $120.

I'm african american female with long nappy hair. I would get relaxers to straighten my hair and then flat iron it and it would do nothing. With the chi it has actually tammed my hair to the point where I really dont need a relaxer. Just make sure to get heat protectant products for your hair.
DO! Mine was $150 canadian, but is AMAZING! It heats up in under 30 seconds.

    http://isinis.com
I absolutely LOVE my CHI, my only regret is that I did not buy it sooner. I got mine about 4 months ago. Ceramic is less damaging to your hair. My hair (kinky) comes out really silky and people think I go to the salon regularly, which I don't. It comes with a one year warranty (not lifetime) and I suggest you use the CHI silk infusion and buy a heat protectact to keep your hair healthy. Only apply a dime size to quarter amount of silk infusion throughout your hair evenly (not greasy) and then spray your strands with the heat protectant before apply the CHI flat iron in your hair to keep it healthy. Good luck!!
Is your hair difficult to straighten? Sounds like it; So is mine. I have the Chi, and it is SO worth the $; works great, every time!
    Feel free to splurge
here's a review of them by ebay members from ebays fashion reviews %26amp; guides.
i have a pretty expensive straightener and it works amazingly. i have insanely curly hair and when i straighten it, it looks really really straight and non frizzy. if your hair is a little wavy to just wavy then you don't have to invest in a super expensive straightener but like a $50-60 one. ceramic work the best and they are the best for your hair.
buy a shampoo call herbal essances 'dangerously straight' that could do great help! the shampoo only cost 3 dollars at the most, not even. i'm not sure about the straightener, i go natural.
i would get the chi it has a lifetime warranty so you only have to invest once and they actually honor their warranty at no extra cost to you
I've had several - the expensive ones are so much better. Splurging on a CHI is worth it.

Tip from my hairdresser: No matter how hot your straightener will get, temps above 350-370 will damage most peoples hair. fyi.
I bought my gf one and some of the differences she pointed out were: flash heating in about 16 seconds or so, her hair was softer and stayed straight longer (something about ion infusing....w/e), much smoother action during the straightening motion, healthier looking results with no drying out of hair.

This is all I caught, I kinda blanked out after about 10 minutes about telling me all the exciting things about her new straightener.

The impression I got was that it was definitely worth it. So much so that it prompted her friends to get one too.
My straightner was only $30. but its a ceramic straightner and it makes a huge difference than the ones I have used in the past and its so muchbetter for your hair---Good Luck!
yes do...it works wonders! I have really curly frizzy hair that usually takes hours to do with a really inexpensive straightener and with the Chi the amount of time it took for me to do my hair was basically cut in half!! it is definately sometime to look into and they last a long time...a friend of mine has had her's for ten years and it still straightens her hair like the first time she bought it! :)

What's the BEST hair straightener? And by that, I mean the LEAST damage to your hair. Thanks.?

my top priority is not damaging my hair as best i can. thank you. What's the BEST hair straightener? And by that, I mean the LEAST damage to your hair. Thanks.?
The Chi works REALLY well. It is not suppose to damage your hair, but I don't believe any straightener wil not damage it. The Chi is a little bit on the more expensive side though, but it is definitely the best I have used so far and my hair is naturally curly. What's the BEST hair straightener? And by that, I mean the LEAST damage to your hair. Thanks.?
    get a heat protector

    and a GHD iron

they are expensive but the best out there
well, ALL straightners will eventually damage your hair, if you use it often on high heat.

my advice: talk to your hairdresser and ask what they reccomend for your hair. i was looking on the internet at a CHI, but after i talked to my hairstylist, i found a $60 straightner at Sally's Beauty Supply that works just as well, for a cheaper price.
You can buy a heat protectant that will protect your hair from the heat.
chi is the brand. its ceramic and used by all professionals. very little damage.
Least amount of damage is NOT a chemical straightener (i'm sure you knew that, but apparently some one else didnt!)

Ceramic flat irons are your best bet, Chi is the best of the best. If you go to any beauty supply store (try Sally's or Ulta, they are usually staffed by beauticians) and they can find the best one for you in your price range. It doenst hurt to try a heat protecting conditioner or sirum.
to minimize damage to your hair, use a styling product like a smoothing creme or mousse. that will give u a barrier between ur hair and the hot plates, causing less damage.
do you know how you can straighten your hair just buy a perm and put the perm stuff on and comb it through it won't mess it up but make it straight. take care.

i have very thick, curly hair and i straighten my hair about every other week so i love being about to not worry about it frizzing or getting bigger

ive heard the chi is very good but i was wondering if anyone found a straightener that is really good or better

thaaanks%26lt;3What is your favorite hair straightener?
hey we have the same hair! But I've heard that sedu is good for that type of hair. GOD I want it sooo bad What is your favorite hair straightener?
    Hi There,

I'm Samuelel, I'm a top stylist and hairdresser associated with the Francesco Salons Group.

Whilst in the salon i ALWAYS use my GHDs, i had Chi once and also BaByliss, but since i have gotten my GHDs, they are my favorite by far and never let me down whether I'm curling someones hair with straighteners for the bigger curl effect, or just naturally straightening someones hair.

They get hot quick, do the job better than any other straightener in my opinion and you don't have to spend so long straightening your hair when you've got a good pair of them (every pair of GHDs is good anyway so it's going to do a good job no matter what).

    Hope I've Helped.

    - Samuelel
    CHI, definitely

i have it and my hair is really curly and very frizzy.

the chi actually helps your hair.

it is ceramic and you get a lifetime warranty.

    it is like $130

and sometimes you can get it for 79.99 if you look really hard.
I don't even know what Chi or GHD is but I have tool science whatever. My hair is straight right now, OMG MY HAIR IS LIKE THAT TOO! Ok, I have a story to tell YOU. Ok, yesterday I blowdries my hair, and tried straightning my hair. From 2 to 3 I was doing it by myself at, I guess a good rate but then I had someone help me. I think I'm gonna take a shower tonight though. Ok, see ya girlfriend!!!

i heard the FHI is really good.

pretty much anything that's 100% ceramic is awesome. Don't get anyting that's not ceramic.

    (all 3 of these are)
    chi
ghd is THE BEST trust me its quite pricy but does the job perfectly and it keeps my haor straight all day long

What's the best hair straightener out there?

...or which hair straightener do you use?

i think mine is about to stop working since i've used it

for a couple of years now... so i need to know.

do not say the instyler. What's the best hair straightener out there?
Chi hair straighteners are awesome, there's no other that even comes close. I got this trial one that's really good directly from the Chi company itself. All I needed to do was try it out for at least 60 days and then give feedback every few days.

It works really awesome, it just heats up super fast and takes me about 5 minutes to straighten my hair and I got really long wavy hair.

I'm not sure if there are any left, but you can always try http://www.freesamplesfromheaven.com/chi/a>

I hope that helps :)What's the best hair straightener out there?
Straighener Hmm i would probz say Ghds ;] it makes my hair shiny - easy to curl and i have really curly hair. andin damp weather my hair goess frizzy n curly but ghds help mine stay straight my next door neigbours a hair dresser aswell and she says defo ghds ;]

    hop helped ithink:L
I've had multiple CHIs, a Sedu, and tons of cheap drugstore irons. The one I have now (the BEST ONE by far) is called the Bespoke T3 Duality SinglePass (I think??) It straightens my thick, curly hair in fifteen minutes.
I use a Sedu straightener, it's amazing. My hair NEVER gets stuck in the corners of the blades and it straightens so smoothly. it goes up to 410 degrees. :)
i use this thin blue one. it is called the babyliss pro and it heats up fast and dusnt damage my hair and is fairly cheap.
I'd say the CHI, but its pricey. I use it, and I have very thick and curly hair. :)
    GHD.
the hot pink bed-head ';Light Me Up'; works, and not too expensive,
    chi XD

What hair straightener should I buy?

I'm looking for a straightener that isn't expensive, preferably under $40-ish. I have a Conair one right now, and it doesn't work very well. My hair is moderately straight/wavy (after I wash it, it gets a little poofy). I need something that'll straighten well in one or two passes with minimal damage. I have to run my Conair one five or six times over a section of hair to straighten it.

Does anyone know a really good (inexpensive) heat protectant/shine spray?

Thanks so much!!!!What hair straightener should I buy?
Just rent ';Jaws'; the original, get the New directors cut with all the discusting scenes they cut out of the theater version! This will scare your hair straight ';and'; provide you with a scary movie you were looking for! lol Hey just tryin to be helpful! lolWhat hair straightener should I buy?
I would suggest using the infiniti hair dryer put out by conair my sister has wavy hair and it works great for her. It costs about $65. go to the conair website.
    try the revlon ceramic straightner. and for srealent theres this stuff at sallys beauty supply from a company called ';fantasia';
I don't really think the sprays work very well, but I have major curly hair and there is a cream I use on it called Redken Align. The best straightener to get unfortunately is an expensive one. The ones made by conair and the cheaper brands are only Ceramic coated, and the more expensive ones are totally ceramic. I have a Chi now and my previous one was a Rusk brand. I use one that is about an inch wide and I only have to go over my super curly hair 2 or 3 times to get it straight. As hard as it is, make an investment for a more expensive one, because it works ALOT better and lasts alot longer too!!
I would sugguest to go to a beauty supply store and ask for a ceramic straightner around $40. Tell them you want to get one that has high temp settings. Mine was $40 @ Sally Beauty Supply in Palm Bay, Fl. The temp goes up to 400degrees and it works great. Also use sheen spray. It is made for african american hair when they get a perm, but it works great with the straightner. This is also at the beauty supply store for about $3-$4. Good luck
If you want a good straightner you need to spend the money and get a chi - otherwise you will just keep buying the cheap ones that dont work. Its worth the $100 investment.
Ok first of all never use conair. None of their products heat up enough to do a good job.

Ok I recomend getting a ceramic hair straightner you can look on folica.com they have a few on there that are good. I'm not sure if they are under forty but its worth looking at. I have hair like yours and i wanted a good hair straightner and i found the solia ceramic flat iron. I love it. It wasnt cheap I think I paid like $70 but it is worth it. I pass it over my hair once or twice depending on how straight I want it and it works miracles. It leaves my hair so shiny and straight. If you want a good iron then pay the extra cash.

What is the best hair straightener (iron)?

I have heard that the Chi is the best. Is it or is there one that it better?

I don't know if this matters but I have highlighted blond hair and its pretty thin, so I don't want one that will damage it too much.

Also, price is not an object.

Thanks! What is the best hair straightener (iron)?
nope...thats soooooo the best. this pink camo straitner also works the same. thats what demi lovato said. lol.

Anywayz...i tried like 20 different straitners...and my hair never seemed to straiten. until i used that.

so keep usin itWhat is the best hair straightener (iron)?
Chi is a good brand, I have used one before and it works great. But there are other good flat irons. Go to a hair salon and ask what they recommend. They can usually get a good one for a fair price.
chi, I like to get them at gene juarez, they have amazing hair prodects, and the cost idk, like 150 or somthing.
Chi is the best, no doubt about it.

    chi!
i have a Chi and i'm very pleased with it :)

http://astore.amazon.com/beautyproduct07/a>What is a good hair straightener?
I have a Conair cermaic hair straighter with a detachable comb piece on it. I love it and have been using it for years. I got it at target and it was really inexpensive. There is no steam, but I have pretty curly hair and it does a great job of straightening it and I like that it has a comb attached so that I don't have to juggle a comb and hot straighter at the same time. This is the one i use:

    http://www.target.com/Conair-Professiona/a>

If you really want one with steam, my friend uses this one, which has steam. It is more expensive though... and I prefer mine.

    http://www.target.com/Conair-Infiniti-St/a>
I've tried all kinds of straighteners over the past couple years and honestly Conair sucks, they are cheap and hard to use and the style doesn't last. So avoid Conair. Of all the straighteners I have bought I can't remember the name of my fav but the ones I do remember are Revlon, very good brand of everything. Right now I have a revlon straightener and curler in one and it's amazing. But if you want to buy from a salon store I would avoind Gold N Hot-major rip off as well. Just get a thin ceramic straighter, gold plated takes to long and yo usually have to straighten a couple times. For thin hair a 1 inch ceramic straightener would be perfect because you have more control over what you straighten anyways. Good Luck!
GHDs are the best ever! All my friends and me have them and will never get any other. They are expensive but you get perfect results every time!! (If you have thin hair I would go for the smallest ones) They dont burn your hair but to protect it from the heat I would always use a heat protection spray on first with any straighteners. Hope this helps!
Ok well, first I use this stuff from great clips. It's orange and called Matrix so the straightener won't damage your hair. Then, I use my conair wet/dry straghtner. It works amazingly and it only cost $25.(Trust me, my hair is thick and curly and it keeps my hair straight all day long!) Lastly, I put this John Frieda finishing cream. I hope I helped :)
i have a corioliss wet and dry ceramic straightener(1 inch),,,there the best! i have the same hair type as you too...it holds the straightness too. it is sort of costly but totally worth it.,please help me with my question http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;/a>
tourmaline jilbere de paris, you can get them at sally beuty supply for a good price. they work the best, and they have heat setting up to 40, as well as a softening effect(at least for me)
My hail is exactly like yours and i've tryed 10 different straighteners and The best one that I love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its called the ';H2Pro'; all the people at my salon say its the best straight they have tryed.

    Yahoo search it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sadly the best ones are the most expensive ones. if you can find a town hair dresser, most times you can get $120 straighteners for $60!
    ghd's

they are the shizz in england

    really expensive

but there's a reason why everyone has them over here...

you could get them from the internet.
    Solia.

    Chi.

Maxi glide (no, it's not a tampon, haha) has steam.

    Use a thermal protectant!
maxi and mini glides are amazing. i live by them. ive had mine for years and it still works like a charm. find them on google.
one that is kinda thick and that will heat up fast
I think that Braun will do the job !
  • eyeshadow brush
  • What is the BEST hair straightener available for purchase?

.....In your opinion? What is the BEST hair straightener available for purchase?
The Solia flat iron is the one you want if you want to be more free with your,i have a Solia and i can straighten it,curl it and so much more, and It's not very expensive, but it is a just a little bit heavier than the others mentioned,it won't hurt your hand though. The Solia is good for short to medium hair.

    http://www.folica.com/Solia_Tourmalin_d1/a>

The Sedu is the one that i plan to buy next,i think people with hair a little past their shoulders have had better results with the Sedu, people with short hair however disliked it.The Sedu is very light-weight,but the plates on the iron are very wide, and not good for curling and waving your hair, but the good thing is that they offer 2 different sizes. The Sedu is good for people with medium to long hair.

    http://www.folica.com/Sedu_Ionic_Cera_d1/a>

The CHI is a piece of crap in my opinion,it is not the flat iron you want for very thick, frizzy, curly hair.I have heard hundreds of stories about the CHI severely damaging hair, breaking down after 6-12 months and just falling apart. The CHI is recommended for people with long fine/thin hair.

http://www.folica.com/CHI_Ceramic_Fla_r1/a>What is the BEST hair straightener available for purchase?
Any BabyBliss flat iron; Espically the titanium pro. The Chi does not get hot enough (410 degrees) the babybliss goes up to 450.
I have the Sedu and i'm in love with it

    I bought it at www.folica.com

and it doesn't just straighten your hair good

it curls, flips in and also out..

i would save up for it, they can be costly =)
Okay i use a really crappy brand (Chloche) but I just wanted to warn you that CHIs break easily. I'd say go for a GHD unless your hair is super coarse or curly. Than I'd say a Sedu.
    Chi

    :D
    GHD or Bio Ionic
Personal opinion, it's worth it to shell out the big bucks for a Chi hair shtraightener.
Well most people will say the Chi.

But my hair is very thard to straighten and I have a Vidal Sassoon.

It was 40 dollars at Target and it straightens my hair in 15-20 minutes.

It used to take me a couple hours.

It takes me about an hour with the Chi
Sedu works great for my THICK, FRIZZY hair. it is the only iron that let my hair stay straight for days even in high humidity (new york city).
    GHDs

only hair straightners i will use =]

can achieve most styles with them

    straight, flicks, curls, waves..etc

they come in 3 plate sizes depending on your hair type/length

    and their not overly expensive.

    hope this helps
I straighten my hair everyday..i dont recommend you going to walmart or any of these cheapo stores to buy a straiightner. Alot of them do not use the ceramic plates that they claim to use. If i were you, pay the extra money for a CHI. i bought mine 2 years ago for $100.00 and love it. Still working great and worth the money.

Where can I buy from a shop and not a website a GHD Hair Straightener in the UK?

whats the name of the shop?Where can I buy from a shop and not a website a GHD Hair Straightener in the UK?
GHD only distribute their products to hair salons. Which is why a lot of hairdressers recommend them (it's in their best interests for you to buy it from their salon). You won't find GHD in most normal hair product shops.Where can I buy from a shop and not a website a GHD Hair Straightener in the UK?
dont get ghd's theyre rubbish ihave them and they dont work when im on holiday and they have screwed up my hair. i would use Corioliss straighteners, they are made from titanium which wont wreck you hair

you can get em at selfridges
if you go to the GHD web site you can search for stockists in your area. please see link below
A hairdressers. Mine in Hornchurch Essex sells them.
    argos
    graham webb hairdressers sell them
A Good hairdressers - I bought mine from a local one in Oldham.
Look in some hairdressers, that's the only place I have seen them.

What hair straightener do you recommend that doesn't cause hair damage.?

I also have fairly curly medium coarse hair. What hair straightener do you recommend that doesn't cause hair damage.?
No matter what all straightners will damage your hair, but you do have the power to control how much you damage.

    my recomendations are the following.

straightner: GHD Gold plate, Vidal Sasoon brands are also good.

please buy the following if you decide to purchase the heat iron:

Heat Protectant for your hair. these balms, sprays will protect your hair from heat damage that you get from heat styling tools.

    and consider buying:

Paul Mitchall Straight Balm. this will keep your hair straight all day!

remember this when you look at buying though'

A hair straightner is an investment'!

so dont but some cheap crappy one..

cause you get what you pay for with those things.

good luck! What hair straightener do you recommend that doesn't cause hair damage.?
every straightener causes damage, they use heat. im a boy and even i know that. What i also know that most girls dont is that a titanium plate does far less heat damage and it gets the hair straighter faster and stays longer than the chi. My mom is a hairdresser and there salon uses the ghd irons but i use the babyliss pro titanium straightener from folicia. I was able to sweat during gym class and it was still straight. i was surprised myself since the chi irons never did that for my hair
I am a straightner queen my hair was so damaged it was un real so i asked my stylist what to do she said use super skinny serum and it works really good i have used it ever since and my hair is not damaged yet.
the brand Chi is the best hair brand in the world basically but they are super expensive. as in 275$ so if you hav that money to spend on hair products there you go.
remingtons wet2straight aren't too bad. as long as you use products to protect your hair from heat damage you should be ok with just about any brand.
Chi doesnt cause as much damage. But ALWAYS put a protector on like the Iron Guard by Chi
    no idia
    chi
Chi ... i think so, my ex used dat

Everyone say CHI is the best flat iron but what if you can't afford ';top notch'; hair straighteners?

Since I'm a child of low income status, buying a CHI or a babybliss pro or T3 flat iron or curling iron just isn't happening. So what can I do? Currently, I own the following flat irons: Red by Kiss, conair 3/4 in. flat iron, a 1 in Zoe iron. I know these aren't even close to as awesome as a CHI or a Sedu. But I can't do anything about that can I? Anyway I want to know if there's a flat iron that's compariable to a CHI (but for a MUCH lesser price.)?Everyone say CHI is the best flat iron but what if you can't afford ';top notch'; hair straighteners?
Use wet two straight Remington Straightener. Seventeen magazine named it number 1.it like cost 20 dollars i think. You can get it at target. It works Excellent.Everyone say CHI is the best flat iron but what if you can't afford ';top notch'; hair straighteners?
My friend had this exact problem. Here the solution:

There's a place called Sally Beauty Supply.. http://www.sallybeauty.com/

They are notorious for having the ';Generic'; version of everything! From Shampoos, Hair Color and flat irons.

The Jilbre Brand is suppose to be just like the Chi, except way cheaper. She said it works exactly the same as a Chi. Go check it out %26lt;3
I've never used a Chi but I've had a lot of luck with this guy:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015KD/a>

It heats up pretty quick and straightens my curly mop pretty quickly, and without much thought.
get this thing called an-dis it works really good and by really good i mean it gets so hot just enough to straighten your hair beautifully it only cost 15 dallas at walmart
hey i have the same problem as you =) well had.

first, you have a lot of flat irons.... before you buy ANYTHING try doing some research if the product is good or not and is it worth it?

    save your money, make sacrifaces...

tjmaxx sells some pretty good irons for cheap, just know which one to buy.

also, walmart sells a 1'; andis ceramic coated (not the best nor worse) for 15-20 bucks, just a warning, you will need to buy more than one over the years

i had a conair flat/curling iron. bought it for like 20 bucks at target and let me tell you it sucked. it was my first iron and i didn't know anything back then. hmmm then i read reviews on like amazon.com i went to costco and they sold a chi for 60 bucks!! then i was thinking if i should buy it or not...waited a few days to see how i could save the money for it..and bought it and it's pretty good =)

    sorry that was long.

My hair straightener is ruining my hair but i still want to use it?

Ok my hair is getting cruchy and i want the new ceramic chi for christmas ( i think im getting it) i have straighterner protection spray but it is not working what should i do help!!!!!!!!!!!!My hair straightener is ruining my hair but i still want to use it?
i have the same problem...what i do..is like..every time i take a bath or long shower i use a deep conditioner(garney fruitis....or whatev) and before that..i use olive oil(i no it sounds wierd) and then make sure you wash it out..and it adds all the natural oils back into your hair(it really doesnt matter what kind of olive oil you use....

hope that helpsMy hair straightener is ruining my hair but i still want to use it?
Okay, well first make sure that you get heat protection, not just

straightener protection. Also, on Friday %26amp; Saturday nights try applying

oils to your hair, like olive oil, avocado oil, or maybe even coconut oil. All of this works really well, and it restores natural shine %26amp; volume into your hair. Make sure you wash this all out with a good shampoo and conditioner. Lastly, buy a conditioner that is reliable and will repair damage. Try Tresemme, or Herbal Essence.
Its good that your using a hair straightener that is ceramic, because otherwise it will destroy your hair.

Don't use the iron too much. Excessive heat causes hair loss and dryness, not good. I'd say to use it at most four times a week, like put your hair in a ponytail once in a while or do something that doesn't need your hair to look super straight.

Also its smart to trim your ends twice a month. Wet your hair a few times in a row to let your hair relax from constant heat.

Be good to your hair, its supposed to last your whole life. If you don't start taking care of it now, you might as well be bald by the time your 45.
try getting a protector spray and shampoo%26amp;conditioner that is a little more expensive that you can get online or at a salon.

i would suggest using ojon shine and protect shampoo and conditioners found at the link below. they worked so good for some of the girls i used to go to school with, and althought it is expensive, you don't need to use alot for it to work its magic.

also try getting a GHD protector spray, they have kinds that can make your hair silky, thicker or lifted.
The brand ';CHI'; works great. Just put a little bit in your hair and it it should help your hair from gettting fried.

But if that is not working, your straightner could be to hot for your hair depending if your hair is thick or thin!

    Hope this helped!

    Squiddy
My suggestion for you, to get CHI Turbo flat iron. My friends are using that. Outstanding chi hair straightener!!!
Try using a conditioner so it can repair your hair, it really has worked for my sister, it's called Vive Pro - hydra gloss moisturizing conditioner by loreal' .It repairs damaged hair or very dry hair.
Hope you get the new hairstraightener.

Use a new hairprotecter. And possibly a new shampoo that helps undo hair damage.
The chi straaightner is good, but personally the company called Hai is better.
get your hair perm straight or go to your local hair salon, they probably should know what to do.
stop using it otherwise u will lose ur hair at much more rapid pace. ..

if u still want then get it done by some parlor

My hair straightener doesnt make my hair straight and it creates frizz?

i have a babyliss straightener that cost me æ‹¢14.99 and it doesn't do the work i wish it would. i don't have much money so what can i do to maximize the straightness without buying a new straightener? My hair straightener doesnt make my hair straight and it creates frizz?
thats horrible my straightner cost 50 dollars and it works fine I guess you get more bang for your buck. But ne who try using different frizz creams like tressemes frizz ease or a hair sprits that will keep and hold your hair in place after your straighten itMy hair straightener doesnt make my hair straight and it creates frizz?
Hairspray usually dyes down the frizz :)

    I would recommend Tresemmee.

But still then to deal with your striaghtener just hold your hair down reallly long. And i've found that blowdrying your hair helps too..and straightening your hair in like a bunch of different layers. (:

Oh and after you blowdry your hair - wait 15 minutes, THEN straighten.
Well first of all, from experience, cheapie straighteners suck. I got one as a spare a while ago I might as well have paid for nothing. Second has you hair been 'razored'? I use to have this problem when I got it razored, my hair would get poofy because it lost it's shape and it would never style right. Also, it might not be hot enough for you hair type. Thinner, straighter hair requires lower heat while thicker, coarse hair requires high heat. You should section off your hair and straighten it in layers and make sure that your hair is completely dry. I honestly can't say for sure what it as it could be many problems, really.
    buy a CHI or GHD
  • eyeshadow brush
  • What hair straightener should I buy?

I'm going to buy myself a new hair straightener, but I don't know which one. I heard that the ';Chi'; hair straighteners are good, but what do you think? Thanks in advance. What hair straightener should I buy?
    chi or bed head

they r the top 2 and best sellers!

Chi鈩?Hair Straighteners are pretty expensive anyways, so you aren't going to find them very cheap unless the retailer is selling a lot of overstock or defective products.

    Try the website:

    http://www.folica.com/Chi_Flat_I_317_1.h/a>

    Or Google ';cheap Chi鈩?Hair Straighteners';

Good luck! :]Where are you buy cheap chi hair straightener?
Folica has really good pricing and a great return policy.
Try this site ,to compare it .many types of hair straighteners.
I have one but I bought it from my salon. I know JC Penny sells them for like $100. You should try ebay too.

if you dont mind spending a lil money i highly recommend the instyler its $100 but it is soooo worth it. it adds volume, straitens, curls and does a whole lot more definaly you should get that one!!!
if youve got frizzy curly hair then it wont keep your hair staight for long, the only ones that work for me are the ghds and they keep them straight, also ive had them for 3 years and still work perfect and my brother using them on his hair when hes got jel on it and it dosnt effect them.
If the Plates are Ceramic thenn yeahh it is good. If not RETURN IT! A straightenerr withoutt Ceramic plates is noo good!!!!!!!!

hey some guys straighten their hair too... sorry dont know of that straightener but good luck

What's the difference between a hair straightener and a wet/dry straightenener?

so, i would like to straightenener my hair almost everyday because it's very curly and hard to deal with.

my hair gets very dandruffy when i don't wash it one day because i usually wash it everyday and when i wash it, it instantly curls. so i was just wondering how i would be able to straightenen my hair even when it's wet. (:

but i'm not sure if a regular straightener will do the job or if i need one of those ';wet/dry'; straightenener. What's the difference between a hair straightener and a wet/dry straightenener?
You need a wet/dry iron for this. With regular irons, you need to blow dry your hair and then iron it. If you hair gets really tangled, use a straightening conditioner but only from where your neck starts down and a straightening shampoo, a detangler like John Freida's Sheer Blonde Sleek %26amp; Shine Detangler (it doesn't contain any dyes, don't worry) and can be found at drugstores like CVS or Walgreens. Use Straightsexyhair Straightening Balm by Michael O'rourke (silver container, pink and white letters) when your hair is damp. Spray a heat ';blocker'; on your hair like TRESsemme's Heat Tamer Spray so it doesn't harm it as much. Blow dry (when blow drying, blow dry your hair with the blow drier facing down all the time), then iron or use the wet/dry iron. To finish it up, add TIGI's after party lotion (pink bottle) but it sounds like you don't need it because you already have oily hair so just leave it natural from there.

Good luck! (:What's the difference between a hair straightener and a wet/dry straightenener?
When I was 14 I got my first hair straightener and I loved it but the only problem was that I couldn't straighten my hair when it was wet. Regular straighteners can't straighten wet because it will fry hair, cause bad split ends, and isn't god for the straightener. For Christmas two years ago I got a straightener that allows me to straighten it wet. There is certain settings you have to use. I have thick hair and my straightener has 30 levels. I use 15 for damp hair. I also recommend using a hair straightening solution because it helps with heat damage you put in on damp hair and straighten it. I love my straightener it helps my hair when I don't know what to do with it. It also makes my hair soft and I love to run my fingers through it and it protects against humidity so when it is damp but not raining you can straighten it.

    Good luck

P.S. My straightener brand is Revlon and at Wal* Mart there is straightening stuff you can get it isn't that expensive either. My straightener was at Wal* Mart and was only about 30 dollars adn that isn't bad and gets good results.
well it sounds like you need a wet to dry straightener,

try one thats really well-known, youll probably have to spend

over $80 depending where you live to find a good wet to dry straightener.

it may fry your hair, but so does every other straightener.

try using some heat protection spray on your hair before you straighten it,

and spray it at least 6 inches away from your head so it doesnt look greasy.

    hope this helped!
You can't use a regular hair straightener to straighten hair when it's wet. But a wet/dry hair straightener lets you do it when your hair is wet.
you cant use a regular straightener to straighten while wet... but the wet/dry kills your hair more. just wakeup earlier, let it dry/blowdry, and use the regular...
using a straigtener when yer hair's wet is a BAD idea.

i had a wet to straight... and it fries yer hair BAD.
wet/dry straighteners mean that u can straightner your hair while it is wet, cant do this with regular ones :)

Please help:http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind/a>Which is better braun or conair for a ceramic hair straightener?
Neither. If you want a really good ceramic hair straightener, go for GHD. Yes, they are expensive but you wont regret it, it's the best!

Don't do what my friend did... First she had an old school metal straightener but it was too bulky and didnt do a good job... So she bought a cheap brand ceramic one like you mentioned (coz she ';couldn't afford'; GHD) then decided after a couple of months that it was junk... Then she bought a slightly dearer one for about $100 and after about 6 months wanted a better one... Then she saw one on tv that she thought looked really good so her dad bought it for her but soon she realised it was rubbish as well... So finally she said ';Stuff it I'll just buy a GHD';... and she's had it for 6 years now and still loves it!

The only thing she regrets is not buying the best one in the first place coz she ended up spending $400 on hair straighteners that didn't do a great job, then $299 on GHD which she should've just done in the first place!

My mom has short curly hair and she has the instyler and absolutely loves it. I don't think her hair looks much different when she uses it - but if you ask her she says that it is the best invention ever and it does exactly what she wants to her hair so... I have long straight hair and tried it out once just to curl the ends and my hair got all tangled in it and personally I like my normal straightener better..

  • Should i continue to use my hair straightener?

There is a chip in the corner on one of the ceramic straightners . It keeps filling up with weird white dust stuff but i just blow it out and continue to use it. Should i be doing this? Whats coming out? I have a cricket hair straightner

    http://www.folica.com/Cricket_Straigh_d1/a>

Should i just buy a new one?Should i continue to use my hair straightener?
Sounds like there's nothing to worry about.

I'd carry on using them if i was you unless you really need some new ones then go for it.

But the white dust will just be the heat picking up chemicals you don't notice off your hair.

Thats usually why most hair straightners start to smell abit.

Like i said nothing to worry aboutShould i continue to use my hair straightener?
the best thing for you to do is get a new one. Since it is ceramic it is going to wear out, and if you use hairspray on top of that it will burn your hair if you keep on
Just suck it up and buy a new one. Its broken..

And if its ceramic then its just the ceramic wearing out.
Just buy onther one and maybe a different brand? One that'll last longer...

Well, it depends what you consider an ';affordable'; price, because CHI irons are very expensive. I got my CHI iron at Ulta, its this really big beauty supply store, for about $100. And even though they're expensive i think they're definately worth it. I've had the same one for 3 years now and its still as good as new, not to mention it falls off the sink constantly.Where is the best place to buy a CHI hair straightener for an affordable price?

to make the hair smooth and straight.

Do you know which brand name is good, and do you put anything on hair before straightener.Which type of hair straightener is good?
Hi! (: The CHI straightener is the best, and it leaves your hair nice and smooth. I have the iSmooth straightener though and it works great. Before you straighten your hair, remember to put on heat protectant because it protects your hair from damage. I hope this helps. :D Good lucK!Which type of hair straightener is good?
I recommend buying a straightener that is $30 and above, from personal experience I have noticed that there is a big difference of how your hair turns out by the price of the straightener because the more it costs the better it is. Yes I also recommend buying a gel-like product that is sold only in hair salons and it protects your hair from the straightener. It is made to keep your ends nice and healthy. And it isn't expensive what so ever.

    Hope this helps(:
Maxius. I'm not sure where you can buy them, but they work GREAT. I've used it for years and it has a steamer on it to make your hair extra smooth and stuff. Out of all my friends, I've got the best straightener. Look for Maxius. I don't put anything on my hair before I straighten it. Just make sure it's dry and brushed.
the best hair straightener i can suggest is the GHD straightener

you can use the hair serum to protect your hair from heat.
well the best i know is ghi or something like that......but usually any straightener that is CERAMIC is great! iron or other metal will usually fry or burn your hair because it will get too hot.

and no.....u dont need to put anything in your hair if you dont want to.....but if you do......u can go to a hair salon and ask the ppl there what stuff to use.....theyre experts at that stuff :)

yup. CERAMIC hair straightener are the best (ghi or something like that xD) and no, you dont need to (i dont :D) but if you want to......go to a hair salon or spa and ask

    hope this helps!
You should get one that gets really super hot. Then there's spray you can buy to spray on your hair to protect it from the heat and help it stay. If you're talking about a chemical straighter, there's this Japanese one that's really good.
tigi is awesome, although pretty spendy. remington is a reasonably priced decent straightener I would personally recommend.
Chi Straighteners are the best. There are quite expensive however, but I think it is a good investment if you straighten your hair alot.

    Hope that helped

Why does my hair straightener stick together whenever i use it and how can i fix this?

whenever im straightening my hair,it stays closed after im done with that section of hair and i have to keep on pulling it appart or it will stay together. is there any way to fix this or should i go buy a new one?? it still works but is annoying to keep on pulling it appart!! :) please help me! 10 points 4 the best answer :)Why does my hair straightener stick together whenever i use it and how can i fix this?
I honestly think you should just get a new one. If it really annoys you that much, it's not worth it. But on your new one, make sure that you're not putting any sticky stuff in your hair right before you straighten it. That could be the problem. Why does my hair straightener stick together whenever i use it and how can i fix this?
Could you be more specific? Is it a problem with the plates or with the hinge mechanism?

If it's a problem with the plates you should definitely invest in a new one -- regardless of product build up, plates should NOT stick to eachother and this could be a sign of a defective product -- not something you should be using.

If it's the hinge mechanism and can't be easily fixed, I would recommend buying a new one. Hair straighteners are relatively cheap and there is no reason to keep a defective one around when it could be a potential danger or nuisance.

Difference between Japanese hair straightener and Brazilian hair straightening?

Brazilian Hair Straightening involves encasing keratin on your hair with face traces of formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen that can increase the risk of cancer. Japanese Hair Straightening does well at breaking down the protein bonds in your hair, thus smoothing out frizz and waves or curls. Since the Brazilian method only coats the hair with a keratin layer, the effect does not last as long compared to the Japanese method. Consult a beautician and research a little more before deciding on which method to use. Personally, I would prefer the Japanese method: less risk, longer results.Difference between Japanese hair straightener and Brazilian hair straightening?
What is unique about the Nanokeratin System treatment, how is it different than other hair repair systems?

The Nanokeratin based treatment is a revolutionary hair repair system.

The system utilizes nano-molecular keratin, whose particles are so miniscule that millions of them can be gathered onto a pin head! The Nanokeratin particles are deposited and locked deep within the damaged hair, sealing it naturally, to repair hair and restore it to health.

Other types of treatment utilize molecules that are so large that they are unable to penetrate the strands of hair. But the miniscule Nanokeratin molecules penetrate deep within each strand, ensuring the treatment鈥檚 long lasting results.

How do you curl your hair using a hair straightener?

You clamp it at the top, like you would normally do to straighten it, but instead, turn your straightener until the side of the clamp that was away from your head is now closest, and slowly glide the straightener down. You might have to help the curl a little by twisting it, but you'll get a spiral curl.

You're going to want to use a straightener that isn't more than 1'; or 2'; thick though. It won't work with something wider- the curls won't turn out.

Will my hair curler n hair straightener work in asia?

i live in usa n this friday i'm flying to my homeland Bangladesh which is in asia in indian subcontinent. i want to use my hair straightener n hair curler there..but i guess electrical circuit is different there..so if i use 3 hole multiplug will those gadgets or things work there? Will my hair curler n hair straightener work in asia?
You can purchase transformers that will convert 220V to 110V at reasonable prices. You will also need a plug adaptor to convert Bangladesh plugs to North American plugs. Go to a store that specializes in electric appliances, or talk to a travel agent about exactly what you need. Will my hair curler n hair straightener work in asia?
No. The US is 110v and just about everywhere is 220v or 240v. So unless your device is 250v compliant it will probably explode if you plug it in. Check the area around the cord, the US requires that they list the AC power rating for every commercial device. The adaptors you buy are only for electronics that are 250v compliant or have a step down transformer.

Of course you can use one =]. A lot of guys do.Can a dude use a hair straightener to style?
I've worked in retail since I was 16, I'm just about 26 now... The last store I worked at, some guys would ask about straighteners - for themselves. Usually these guys had their moms, sisters or girlfriends around to help them, so I guess it's okay.

All that's gonna happen is make your straighter than it is, and in some cases, you can flip it. Before you buy one, ask one of your female friends or a family member to borrow it, see how it goes...

I don't need to use straighteners (my hair is naturally pin straight) but I do have one for when I'm with my friends and I do their hair.
Nope. A ton of guys use hair straighteners. My brother even uses a blow dryer. Its perfectly natural, go for it and experiment with your hair. :)
    Why not?

I know a guy who straightens his hair. Just make sure to use a good heat protectant, such as CHI Silk Infusion, or invest in a good straightener.

Unless, you're planning on doing like..once in 2 weeks. Then don't worry too much about it.

    Good luck !

I'm a guy who has pretty thick hair. It's not curly at all, it's just really poofy.

1 inch - more versatyle, and if you have bangs it'll be easier to straighten.

-- Jackie ♥Where to buy a Chi hair straightener and what size?
You can buy a chi straightener at any Sally's Beauty Supply, those stores are nationwide and almost every city has one. Target has them sometimes, but at higher prices than Sally's. Also, don't think that just because it's a Chi straightener that it'll be the best. I have a remington that I bought at wal-mart and it is by far the best straightener I've ever had, and I've gone through a lot. I use a two inch one, and I have long wavy hair. If your hair is very long you might want a two inch, but if its not you should definitely stick to a one-inch. Good luck!
I work at an Ulta we have about 7 types of different CHI straightners. I prefer the 1 inch because the smaller the flat iron the better you can flatten the hair close to the root area, that way it doesn't look fringy. You can get them at any Ulta store or online at ulta.com if you're lucky the month you buy it there might be a 20% off coupon.
I actually do a review on the CHI straightener. If you're interested, go check it out on my website. You can buy the straightener online at folica.com.
you can buy it at a sally's or beauty salon, and i'd prefer a 2 inch because it covers more hair faster so you dont have to keep going over it

That's exactly what my hair does.

It is so annoying and I hate it. The one thing that has worked best for me so far is having my hair straightener on the highest heat possible and before I start straightening I some Tresemme Heat Spray through my hair.

It doesn't work wonders but that's all I have found so far that works.Okay so, every time I use the hair straightener and it's all straight after a couple of minutes it does these?
i bet its your hair try getting some hold spray or it could be a straightner what kind do you use?. ut yea your hairs probably naturally does that i straightn my hair then curl it but after so long the girl goes away so i use hold spray

    good luck%26lt;3
hmm, i think its all to do with the angle your holding the straightener while you are pulling it down your hair. Try holding the flat iron straight while you are straightening your hair.
Its the weather. Humidity does that. Just get a nice antifrizz that says it works well for humidity.

What's the best hair straightener brand?

I'm thinking of asking for one for x-mas. I have very thick, curly hair. I heard the chi is good. What is the best kind and why? What's the best hair straightener brand?
I'd say Chi is by far the best hair straightener. I got this trial one that's really good directly from the Chi company itself. All I needed to do was try it out for at least 60 days and then give feedback every few days.

It works really awesome, it just heats up super fast and takes me about 5 minutes to straighten my hair and I got really long wavy hair.

Just go to the Chi website and look for the small trial sample icon and click on it, it'll then lead you through a series of steps or just go to the direct link here http://www.freesamplesfromheaven.com/chi…

I hope that helps :)What's the best hair straightener brand?
Girl, I've had this problem my entire life!

First off, I have extremely thick, frizzy, curly hair. It's so difficult to straighten, lol.

I have used EVERY drugstore straightener out there, they just make my hair look like a mess. However, the best one that I tried was the Remmington Wet/Dry one. (only use it on the dry setting, never straighten your hair when it's wet unless you want to damage it!)

After being extremely frustrated with straightening it every day, I went and got the Japanese straightening treatment on it, so that I could just shower and not worry about it when I got out, it'd just be nice and sleek. However, that was the only thing it could be: straight. It wouldn't curl at all. I didn't like not having the option.

A year passed and the treatment wore out, and I got a Chi. It was great! I could straighten my hair in about 25 minutes, and it was shiny and beautiful at the end.

Recently, I got a GHD and seriously do not know how I ever lived without it. It heats up in about 10 seconds, I'm able to style my hair in 8-15 minutes (it depends on my roommates distracting me, lol), and it is just such a beautiful product. It has a safety setting, so I never worry about leaving it on (turns off by itself), and most importantly it holds an even heat. A lot of straightening irons lose heat as you run it through your hair and you have to adjust the settings every once in a while to make sure it's at the proper temperature. I never worry about that with my GHD. It has ceramic plates which leave my hair SOOO shiny.

    The short version:

    Decent: Remmington wet/dry

Good: Chi (1'; - full size - DO NOT get the Chi Mini, it will BURN your hands lol I learned that the hard way)

BEST/AMAZING/TOTALLY worth the price - GHD
i used to have the frizziest hair in the world. my mom then bought me a vidal sassoon hair straightener... it's a life saver! even though i dont use it, my hair isnt that frizzy anymore :)

it uses tourmaline ceramic, which is good for your hair and apparently the more you use it, the more healthier your hair grows. i dont know if that's true but my hair is shinier and more obedient now :)

it can be wireless for 15 minutes also
The best hair straightener would have to be a GHD - perfect for thick and curly hair! You wont know yourself with one of these. The new ones actually scan your hair and they can tell how thick/fine it is and it adjusts the heat accordingly. They are not cheap but once you have one it will last you for many years.
i got a sako ultimate last christmas. best thing i have ever bought. it turns itself off after 30 minutes. it beeps when it is ready. im not sure what the temperature is but its over 200. i personally think it is better then a ghd. me and my friend straightened my other friends hair(she had really really curly hair) and my half was flatter and straighter and less frizzy then hers. i was using a sako, she was using a ghd
I will GHD dam good straightners would recommend this
    remingtons wet to straight.

it works well because it doesn't make your hair frizzy after using it everyday and it makes it straight the first time you go over your hair, you wont have to keep going over your hair to get a piece straight.

    $30 at walmart.
CHI was good ,or you can try GHD.i have very long thick curly hair , i would never consider anything except GHDs.i use the MK4,they never let me down.
    GHD without a doubt!

They are amazing! I would never buy anything else.

They make my hair super smooth and super straight.

    I use these ones

    http://www.ghd4yourhair.co.uk/images/ghd…

They do wonders for your hair!
Chi is good, but they break kind of easily.

I'd recommend either GHD or Sedu.

They're both amazing top of the line brands (:

I have a Sedu, and my hair is a lot like yours. It gets my hair pin straight in 15 minutes.

    :]
Be less concerned with brands and more concerned with content. Look for something that has keratin as a primary ingredient. Keratin strengthens hair, not fancy brands.
GHD,VS sassoon and chi is the best : )
GHD, Hands down, cause you can do heaps of things with it %26amp; it's great quality.
I have belson pro and it's AMAZING [:

I heard chi is good too but it's way expensive
    most definitely a GHD
  • eyeshadow brush
  • What is the best hair straightener?

I currently have Matrix Sleek Look and I find it works like crap! Help !What is the best hair straightener?
    Hey :-)

(Jenifer Aniston uses the straightener Im about to reccomend - honestly she does, first I doubted it but so many websites say she does! -And other celebrities too.)

Okay, I have been researching hair straighteners for like a month. You need to decide for yourself but here are the top brands: Sedu and ghd. I know you may have NEVER heard of ';Sedu'; because it is sold exclusively through the world's largest online beauty store. Folica.com

You need to look for one with:

*** Toumaline technology (hair naturally produces positive ions, but toumaline produces extra negative ions and therefore smooths the hair cuticle and means less damage is done)

*** Look for a ceramic (NOT cermaic coated, it has to be all ceramic) plate straightener with Tourmaline infused into the plates.

I e-mailed ghd and they do NOT use toumaline (t-or-ma-line). Also they do not have adjustable heat settings so it remains at a constant high temperature which is NOT good for all hair types.

    ***So look for adjustable temperature.

*** A good straightener (or ';flat iron';) goes to minimum 200 degrees Celcius.

*** A swivel cord so that it doesn't get tangled and annoy you while straightening.

-I have heard that the brand 'CHI' is VERY BAD, some have CAUGHT on FIRE!! (Seriosuly). People just tell you to buy them because they are popular, not good quality!

Check out Sedu straighteners (which have all the above features) at: http://www.folica.com/Sedu_Flat__360_1.h/a>

All the best :-) Ps. after all my research I've decided to get a Sedu straightener! What is the best hair straightener?

I would either recommend a Hair Art or Chi.

Chi's tend to short out alot but they work really well.

I just ordered a HairArt from Amazon.com and it was $100.00 even and it works fantastic!

It has these liquidized crystals within the ceramic plates called tourmaline, it makes your hair soooo shiny and sleek. It keeps your hair straight for longer too and it goes up to 410 degrees.

I recommend the HairArt over the Chi anyday!
CHI's do not last long. They break way too easily. Don't waste your money, and don't listen to the one's that are telling you it's the best. Sedu is one of the best straighteners out there and it is only $100.

To purcase a Sedu at the cheapest price, go to Folica.com , scroll to the very top and click on Hair Styling. On the left hand side, there will be and A - Z brand list. Find Sedu, click on it, and everything else from there is self - explanitory.

For more information on a Sedu, you can go to sedubeauty.com.

I would also recommend using a 1 inch instead of 1 1/2 inch, because the 1 1/2 doesn't do curls very well.

It reaches 410 degrees, with tempature control if you would like a lower tempature. CHI does not have tempature control. That means if the set tempature is too high for your hair, it can fry.

Celebrities have nice hair, and they don't use CHI. They use Sedu. There is something called Sedu hairstyles on every beauty website. No CHI hairstyles right?

    Never use on wet hair.

Also, on Folica.com, people can post reviews on products after they have tried them. Here are they stats on CHI:

72 people say it is 1 star (bad) out of out of 1257 total reviews.

    Sedu:

24 people say it is 1 star (bad) out of 3814 total reviews.

    That speaks for itself!

If your hair starts to get damaged, turn down the tempature.

    Take a look at this.

    http://www.folica.com/appliances/straigh/a>

Note how CHI is number 7.

Note how GHD is number 4.

Sedu is the top flat iron and there is proof!

Or if you want something a little cheaper but also is still better than the CHI, get a Solia, it is second in line to the Sedu.
    THE CHI.

i have really thick, wavy hair and i love when its straight..

i bought my chi for about $160, but it was absolutely worth it.

its quick, and when i straighten my hair its silky and straight.

and it keeps it looking healthy, not damaged.

don't buy an immitation chi. i heard they dont work as well. and most stores will tell you that they dont carry the chi because it has been recalled, but you can probably get one from your hair stylist.

    thats where i got mine.

    goodluck
the chi is good .. BUT it breaks easily and burns your hair

just read the reviews about it.

the SEDU is awesome and around $110. ( i have had that one for over a year and its still good) it heats up fast and leaves your

    hair really smooth.

    go to www.folica.com

and look for hair straighteners there.

thats were i got mines and if you dont want that one there are

millions of reviews there so you could chose which one

    to buy.
i like the gold n' hot brand. its in expensive and works good. sure you might have to go through your hair a couple of times. but thats depending on how thick your hair is. :D
    chi

they r very expensive but they r well worth the money

once you use one you know its a chi
    the chi
