Most of the straighteners out now are pretty good, I wouldn't buy them off Ebay because they won't last as long. Get some with ceramic plates or glass plates for the best effect. Ones with ionic technology are good too.

How long is your hair?
I have a pair of Carmen straightners that are good on short hair (on long hair too but regular straightners might be less time-consuming). It has 2 combs with a ceramic section between them so that you slide it through the hair, combing it as it goes and it straightens it. I think it cost about 30 pound. It has about 5 different heat settings.

ive tried loads of other pairs and none match up to GHD if you want your hair well strightened there the only option, and theyl last for years and if they do break you have a long guarentee if you buy them off the GHD site. there worth the extra money

There doesn't need to be any specific straighteners for males, they can just use any really. I have Morphy Richards Cordless, they were about 拢80 and are amazing.
i use nicky clarke there really good and not really exspensive too i dunno wer to get them from though
umm try remington ones there supposed to be good and cheap too they sell those in tons of places.

I bought some 'i create' hair straighteners by morphy richards from superdrug. They were about 30 quid, but i reckon they are better than my mates GHD's cuz they don't frazzle my hair like her GHD's do!
